The two Solstices plus the two Equinoxes mark the pivotal "time" changes in our calendar - longest/shortest/equal day as well as seasonal change - and are represented by the Sun’s move into Cardinal signs. They also herald Turning Points. Opportunities and Openings. New Beginnings.
When the Sun is in Capricorn, we all get a little more responsible, a little m...ore somber, a little more conservative. Though with ruler Saturn firmly ensconced in Sagittarius, there may feel a lighter touch than usual.
Still, the flippancy of Sagittarian Christmas Parties is over and the Real Planning begins. We've just spent a lot of time looking at The Big Picture (Sagittarius) - now it's time to buckle down, draw up the game plan - and go after it (Capricorn). Yes, it's time for that G word. Persistent via the Cardinal Essence, Grounded and Determined via the Earth Essence, Capricorn is the Keeper Of Traditions. Materialistic? Sure – but seen as the reward for all the hard work put in. Driven? Yes, success is a great motivator - and with a strong sense of “self”. Capricorns know who they are, and make no apologies for it.
We've already been in Capricorn Thinking Mode for the last week and a half with Mercury's residence, and we have of course been on a longer term journey with Pluto overhauling all things Authority & Government (hello FIFA) - now the Sun brings our core self into the Sign Of The Goat, making it now the most crowded sign.
The Sun's move also ramps up the triple reception currently in play - ruler (Saturn in Sagittarius) whose ruler (Jupiter in Virgo) whose ruler (Mercury is in Capricorn) - the key to this period will be all about Planning Towards The Big Picture, while Refining The Details.
